This is a neat trick I stumbled upon and it might prove to be useful in future editing.
With Big Wreck’s Albatross, there’s a solo part at the beginning and the crowd was chatting over top of it. Simply removing the vocal track was a bit jarring. But if I cut the track in two (crowd on one side, actual singer vocals on the other) and reduce the size of the crowd track…I can also put a quick fade out. This simulates the crowd being overwhelmed by the solo and quieting down. It definitely is less jarring to do it this way!
